Arty Tuesday: New Orleans Botanical Gardens – 3 more by Alferez

Today it’s 3 more works by Enrique Alferez, who y’all know I love.

The Flute Player is amazing and she fits beautifully in front of the live oak. I love the bronze patina that is moving up her skirt/legs.

And a smaller work nearby:

Finally, while the previous 2 works were done at the end of Alferez’s career (in his 8th decade), this one was one of his original WPA works for the park and was completed 50 years earlier.

I was lucky enough to spend some time in the Botanical Gardens at City Park on Earth Day when the gardens are usually closed. I snapped a bunch of photos of the statues for my May theme.
