I LOVE banana magnolias (or banana shrub). This is another plant/flower from my childhood. If you grew up here and anyone in your neighborhood had a bush (as big as a small tree), then you could smell it for blocks.
Mine has been struggling, but I do have a flower or two and if you get close they smell heavenly.
