This painting stopped me in my tracks when I was 10 years old. My Mom took us to the museum pretty often when we were little and this is the first painting that I remember being mesmerized by. I had no idea who Georgia O’Keeffe was or that she was an icon. I just knew that these mountains – so alien to my swampy home – were a revelation. I still go find this piece whenever I’m in the museum.
Since I picked images from the New York Metropolitan Museum last month, I decided to go a bit closer to home for September. All images are from the New Orleans Museum of Art, my first and still favorite art museum.
