Arty Tuesday: Pumpkins – Mother Goose

“Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater, Had a wife & couldn’t keep her. Put her in a pumpkin shell and there he kept her very well.”

Really what is that rhyme about? I’m going to ignore all the nonsense that I’ve found around the internet (Peter the Great & plotting, adultery & chastity belts, adultery & beheadings) and just think it’s silly nonsense.

Love this early 20th century illustration from Project Gutenberg digitized Mother Goose.
